For our service project, we are helping Brian, a carpenter who had fallen off a roof while working and had his right leg amputated due to repeated infections setting in. During the three surgeries leading up to the total loss of this leg, he had a stroke which paralyzed the right side of his body and caused permanent blindness in his left eye. We have begun repairs on one of his wheelchair ramps and the repainting of his house. We were told "the first day is usually the slowest, so don't expect a big amount of stuff to be done," but we managed to finish the painting of his bedroom and to apply a fresh coat of paint to his kitchen. While not completed, the kitchen looks quite fresh and new compared to its previous condition. We still have tomorrow and 5 other days to complete the rest of the house, and if all goes well, we should be done in no time.
